Why you should support and how you can support (financially, through prayer)

You don’t have to be a pilot to do this work in Indonesia. We couldn’t go to Indonesia without our team of supporters. We have friends who pray for us, give financially to our ministry and encourage us. While Brad does have to be a professional, experienced pilot, he’s just the one who flies the plane. So many others make the plane fly.

To support our ministry in Indonesia through MAF directly, click here . On this Web page, you will fill out information to become a supporter and then have the opportunity to make a support payment that goes directly to support our ministry.

Your money at work in Indonesia…

When you sign up to support our ministry, your donations will pay for our living expenses, salary (which is equivalent to a school teacher’s salary in the States), medical insurance, travel costs to and from Indonesia and other staff-related expenses like these. It will not go to paying for airplanes or gasoline. It doesn’t pay for overhead costs of the ministry.

Please email us if you have any questions about giving.

Calling you to pray…

Five times a day, a devout Muslim is supposed to pray to Allah. And in Muslim countries like Indonesia, the mosques broadcast these "calls to prayer" on loud speakers throughout the cities—as early as 4 a.m. every day.

We need people who will regularly pray for us while we serve among these people. That means you could pray every day, every week, or whenever we come to mind. Sometimes a Bible study or small group of people will commit to pray for us when they have their meetings. If you want to be on our prayer team, email us.

We communicate our prayer requests through our quarterly prayer letter. Sign up for the letter by emailing us. Let us know if you want to receive it by email or by snail mail. (Either way, MAF needs your physical address.)

Sometimes we send out emails more frequently to people committed to pray, so if you want to be on that list, email us.

How to pray for the Hopkins…

Pray for safety/health
—that Brad would be safe while he flies into and out of dense jungles and mountainous areas.
—that Rebecca would be safe as she goes about daily activities.
—that we wouldn’t get sick or get any diseases.
—that mentally, we wouldn’t become too tired.

Pray for relationships
—that we would remember to spend daily time talking to God and hearing from Him.
—that our faith would grow.
—that we’d have opportunities for friendships with Indonesians.
—that our marriage would remain loving and strong.
—that MAF would have a good relationship with the government so we can continue to serve there.
—that we would have unity among the other missionaries.

Pray for understanding
—that we’d learn the culture well.
—that we’d understand the language.
—that we’d learn how to love our Muslim friends.
